Job Description
The Sensory Room Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing quality therapeutic programs for children and aging/disabled adults in and around the Sensory Room. Utilizing sensory input to facilitate emotional and physical regulation in students or adults, the candidate will collaborate with departmental managers to develop cohort-specific, measurable outcomes for tracking progress. The candidate will participate in individual case management, along with other care team members, and act as facilitator/consultant in the transfer of successful outcomes to settings outside the Sensory Room. The candidate will equitably manage Sensory Room usage by internal and external groups and be primarily responsible for room maintenance and function.Duties And Responsibilities
•S Sensory program development for Children’s Development Center (CDC) and Adult Day Services (ADS) students and clients, representing evidence-based practice as it relates to sensory modulation, environment, and behavioral interventions (prescriptive or preventative) across the age spectrum and diverse populations.
• Development of measurable outcomes and data management for Sensory Room participants (e.g., number of individuals served, frequency or duration, intervention type, outcomes tracked). Data collected to be used for organizational reporting, and/or individual case management.
• Assistance with development of tracking mechanisms for classrooms and other activity spaces.
• Oversight of an equitable schedule between CDC and ADS for (a) utilization of the Sensory Room and (b) program development or case management.
• Sensory Room operations, including but not limited to: room features/components, remedial interventions involving the skilled use of sensory and motor treatment activities and equipment, individual accommodations and adaptations, sensory diet programs, environmental modifications, and sensory carts and their usage in other settings.
• Conduct and implement individual or group activity sessions in accordance with the daily scheduled activities.
• Observation of student/client behavior in structured and unstructured settings to determine behavior patterns and functioning levels.
• Maintain and protect the confidentiality of student/client information at all times in accordance with HIPAA and other laws.
• Ensure the safety and maintenance of physical areas and equipment used during therapy/treatment.
• Manage inventory for program supplies, equipment and activities and report to Adult Program Director.
